The Department of Purulent Complications of Diabetes Mellitus was opened in 2000.
The main task of the department is to provide a comprehensive examination and treatment of patients with diabetic foot syndrome, including various trophic ulcers, gangrene of fingers and feet, phlegmon.

The department's specialists use the following treatment methods to save the lower limb:

  • Surgical treatment of purulent-necrotic complications of diabetes mellitus;

  • Conservative treatment of lower limb wounds;

  • Surgical closure and plastics of long-term non-healing foot wounds;

  • Identification and referral of patients with vascular lesions of the lower extremities to specialized centers for intravascular restoration of blood flow through the arteries of the lower extremities, balloon angioplasty and installation of stents into the lumen of the arteries of the lower extremities. Over the past period, more than 400 patients underwent TLBA of the vessels of the lower extremities;

  • Preventive foot surgery is performed to reduce the likelihood of foot ulcers.
    Making an immobilizing unloading dressing from synthetic fixing materials (Total contact cast).

  • Orthopedic care for patients with diabetes mellitus with foot deformities of various origins (orthopedic consultation, making individual orthopedic shoes, insoles);

The department is the only one of its kind, where a comprehensive examination and treatment of patients with diabetic foot syndrome is carried out.
