Head of the Department of Diabetic Nephropathy
Aykhodzhaeva Mohira Akmalovna

Candidate of Medical Sciences, Doctor of the Highest Category, Excellence in Healthcare

Since 1998, a department of diabetic nephropathy has been operating in the RSNPMC Endocrinology, and since 2012, a department of hemodialysis, which accumulates experience in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus with kidney pathology, from the early preclinical stages to end-stage chronic renal failure.

Department of Diabetic Nephropathy RSNPMCE - the main activities of the Department include: the study of metabolic, hemodynamic aspects of the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy, diagnosis of the early (preclinical) stage of diabetic kidney damage, development of preventive therapy for this complication. The mechanisms of the development of arterial hypertension in diabetes mellitus are being studied and the selection of the optimal antihypertensive therapy is carried out.

Program for the prevention of the development and progression of kidney damage

  • Screening for Microalbuminuria
  • Primary prevention of diabetic nephropathy, aimed at preventing the development of pathology in persons with normoalbuminuria (especially in groups at high risk of developing diabetic nephropathy)
  • Secondary prevention of diabetic nephropathy - treatment of patients with advanced kidney damage in order to slow down the decrease in filtration function and delay the development of end-stage renal failure
  • Individual training of patients in the basics of self-control, diet and insulin therapy, blood pressure control
  • Consultation and supervision of a nephrologist

Main directions of practical work:

  • Primary prevention of diabetic nephropathy - aimed at preventing the development of kidney pathology in patients with normoalbuminuria (in daily urine analysis microalbuminuria up to 30 mg / day)
  • Secondary prevention of diabetic nephropathy - treatment of patients with microalbuminuria to prevent the development of severe proteinuric stage of DN
  • Tertiary prevention of diabetic nephropathy - includes therapeutic measures in patients with diabetes mellitus with proteinuria and aims to slow down the decrease in renal filtration function and the progression of chronic renal failure
  • Treatment of end-stage chronic renal failure - by the method of hardware hemodialysis Location Features
  • The Department of Conservative Methods of Treatment is located on the one-story building of the RSNPMCE. It has 22 beds. Hospitalization takes place in a stationary mode. The average length of hospital stay is 10 days.

The widespread introduction into clinical practice of methods of early diagnosis and complex nephroprotection allows to prevent the development of nephropathy in 40-50% of patients, and at pronounced stages of the disease - to slow down the rate of progression of pathology and extend the pre-dialysis period of patients' life by 12-15 years.
