Neurosurgical operational activity at the RSPM Center of Endocrinology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan began in 2010, when transsphenoidal interventions on the pituitary gland were introduced into the Center's practice. Department of Neurosurgery.

The department carries out diagnostics and treatment of CNS pathology (masses, arteriovenous malformations, cavernomas, hydrocephalus, Arnold-Chiari malformation, plastic surgery of the dura mater and skull bones, degenerative lesions of the spine, spinal cord tumors and spine, various types of spinal deformities such as kyphosis and scoliosis).


The following operations are performed:

  • Removal / biopsy of volumetric lesions of the brain and spinal cord;

  • Removal of vascular lesions of the brain and spinal cord;

  • Transphenoidal endoscopic removal of pituitary adenomas;

  • Ventriculoperitoneal bypass grafting;

  • Decompression and plastic surgery of the PCF for Chiari I type anomalies;

  • Plastic defect of the dura mater and defect of the bones of the skull;

  • Microsurgical removal of herniated intervertebral discs;

  • Microsurgical decompression of the spinal cord and its roots;

  • Interbody fusion of the spine in spondylolisthesis (PLIF, TLIF);

  • Vertebroplasty / kyphoplasty for pathological spinal fractures;

  • Stabilization of the spine at various levels with elimination of deformities;

During surgery, if necessary, use intraoperative neuromonitoring for safer and more accurate removal of CNS neoplasms.
Since 2013, more than 1500 surgical interventions have been performed in the department.
