The Reanimation and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Research Institute of Endocrinology was opened in 1982. The purpose of opening the department was to provide emergency care to patients with acute complications of diabetes and other endocrine diseases, as well as the management of patients in the early postoperative period.

With the development of medical capabilities and the expansion of the range of services provided by the Endocrinology Center, the volume of work in the ICU has also increased. Currently, the department provides emergency care for patients with diabetic ketoacidosis, ketoacidotic precoma and coma, hypoglycemic coma, diabetic hyperosmolar coma, purulent and septic conditions against the background of diabetes mellitus with diabetic foot syndrome, with anuria due to end-stage chronic kidney disease due to diabetic nephropathy, thyrotoxic crisis, acute adrenal insufficiency, panhypopituitarism, in particular after operations on the pituitary gland, as well as perioperative management of patients with operations on the thyroid gland, adrenal glands, parathyroid glands, pituitary gland, spine, brain; resuscitation measures are carried out in full, long-term artificial ventilation of the lungs, respiratory support, cardio, inotropic support for patients in terminal state, intensive insulin therapy, glucocorticoid therapy, infusion therapy, careful patient care, enteral and parenteral nutrition, etc. In addition, the department provides advice to outpatient to patients of the RSNPMCE polyclinic receiving inpatient treatment in other clinics in Tashkent and regions of the Republic, takes an active part in conducting screening studies, master classes. The department trains students of clinical residency, magistracy and training cycles of the Center of Endocrinology, TashPMI and TashIUV departments of endocrinology and resuscitation and anesthesiology.

The ICU consists of a shock room, intensive care and dynamic observation wards, and an isolation ward. The staff of the department: doctors - 7, nurses - 17, nurses - 9. Number of beds - 6. The staff of the express laboratory consists of 5 laboratory doctors and 5 laboratory assistants who, in addition to working in the department, provide laboratory tests in the clinic in the evening and at night.

Currently, the department employs doctors and nurses of the highest, first and second categories. All doctors departments have special training (clinical residency, master's degree, primary specialization) in endocrinology and resuscitation and intensive care.

From 2006 to 2009 and from 2012 to the present, the ICU is headed by Kamil Khudoykulovich Rakhmankulov, who has been working in the department since 2002, and also provides anesthetic assistance in the department of endocrine surgery. Since 1995, an endocrinologist, reanimatologist Sharipova Aida Otellovna has been working in the department. The team of highly professional nurses of the department headed by the senior nurse Usmanova Sevara Ismailovna, who has been working in the ICU since 2016 (total experience -6 years, 2012 graduated from the TMA faculty OMH) This is Liana Avanesova (since 1999), Zamira Sattarova, Muslim Rakhimberdieva, Shakhlo Tulyaganova (since 2005), Shakhnoza Raimkulova, Sayyora Uktamova, Yulchibekova Nasiba (since 2006). For many years, laboratory assistants Olga Vyalshina (since 1995) and Rakhimberdieva Malokhat have been working in the express laboratory (since 2004).

Every year over 700 patients from all over the Republic and other countries receive help at the department. Well-coordinated work of everything the team of the department, including doctors, nurses, nurses, laboratory doctors and laboratory assistants, ensures timely and adequate providing emergency care to patients with emergency and urgent endocrine pathology in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Branch structure:

The department is equipped with modern resuscitation equipment. Including: Anesthetic and respiratory equipment, ventilators, cardiomonitring, long-term monitoring of vital body functions.

Express laboratory performs express analyzes of blood sugar levels, biochemical parameters, water-electrolyte balance necessary for the provision of resuscitation intensive care.

The therapy carried out includes intensive insulin therapy, fluid therapy, glucocorticoids, thyreostatic therapy, impaired calcium metabolism, thyroid hormones and other elements of emergency endocrinology. The department has a shock room, postoperative wards and an isolation ward.
